Financial/Insurance Policy

Financial Information

Our doctors and staff are proud to be a team whose primary mission is to deliver the finest and most comprehensive periodontal services available today. We are concerned about your dental care and want to ensure you that it is performed in the most responsible manner. In order to assist you with the investment in your dental health, we have outlined our payment policy.

Financial Arrangments and Dental Insurance:

If you have dental insurance, we will help you receive your maximum allowable benefits.  As a courtesy, we will bill primary insurance.  If you have a secondary insurance, we will bill secondary after primary pays.

For balances after insurance payments, we accept cash, check, VISA, and Mastercard as well as customized payment plans.  Balances over 90 days will be subject to a monthly statement handling fee of 1.5% of outstanding balance.

Important insurance information:  Your insurance is a contract between you, your employer, and the insurance company.  We are not a party in that contract.  Your insurance company may not be interested in your dental needs!

Our fees fall within the standard acceptable range for our specialty. "Allowed" fee is a fee the insurance creates and typically does not represent the standard fee.  Policies that reimburse from a "fee schedule" do so on their established fees and these are contracted between the insurance company and your employer.

Please note that we are a preferred provider with Premera Blue Cross.  However, we will submit bills to any dental insurance company.

In general, your dental insurance may not cover the services that are clinically indicated.

Please be advised that we are not a provider with Medicare or any medical insurance plan, therefore, we will not bill Medicare and medical plans.

Regarding Washington Dental Service Changes:

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to find another periodontist now that you no longer take my insurance?
No! We will continue to take your insurance. You can continue to see us. We will
continue to bill Washington Dental Service, and they will continue to send us payments.

If my out of pocket expense increases, do you offer any discounts?
Yes! We have a menu of discounts, and we'll be happy to help you find all the
applicable ones for your situation. We also offer customized payment plans.

Will I need to pay in full up front and get reimbursed from Washington Dental
Service?
No. All billing procedures will remain as before. We will continue to bill the insurance
for you. After insurance pays us, we will send you a statement if you have a balance.

Do you know other periodontists who are in network with Washington Dental Service?
Sorry, we do not.

If you are not in network with Washington Dental Service, are there other insurance
companies I could switch to?
In general, dental insurance companies now cover only a minimal portion of your dental care. Furthermore, employers are purchasing dental policies with less coverage. We believe that it might be helpful for you to investigate Direct Reimbursement and/or Flexible Spending Accounts with your employer.

Will I have to do all the billing paperwork myself?
Absolutely not. We will still do all the claims submissions and preauthorizations for you.

How much will my out-of-pocket be now that you're out of network?
We're not sure, as there are many different policies and plans within Washington Dental
Service. We can assist you in submiting a preauthorization to get a better idea of your
dental insurance coverage.
